                                                                H.C.R. No. 16 



HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
	WHEREAS, The Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (The 
Technical University of Eindhoven, The Netherlands) will celebrate 
50 years of education and research excellence on its Dies Natalis, 
Thursday, April 27, 2006; and
	WHEREAS, The Technische Universiteit Eindhoven has 
established an international reputation for excellence in the 
fields of mathematics, engineering, and applied science and intends 
to continue to be a research-driven, design-oriented university of 
technology, with the primary objective of providing young people 
with an academic education in the engineering science and 
technology domain; and
	WHEREAS, The Technische Universiteit Eindhoven is the 
commissioner of 10 research schools recognized by the Royal 
Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as two of the six 
top research schools and one of the four top technological 
institutes in The Netherlands; and
	WHEREAS, As part of its celebration of this auspicious 
anniversary, the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven will confer an 
honorary doctorate on lifelong Texas resident Dr. Mary Wheeler, the 
Ernest and Virginia Cockrell Chair in Engineering at The University 
of Texas at Austin; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas, 
3rd Called Session, hereby extend warmest congratulations to the 
faculty, staff, and students of Technische Universiteit Eindhoven 
on April 27, 2006, their 50th Dies Natalis, and offer our sincerest 
hopes for their continued success in the field of technological 
education for many more years to come; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Supervisory Board, the Executive Board, the Deans, 
and Managing Department Directors of the Technische Universiteit 
Eindhoven as an expression of highest regard by the Texas House of 
Representatives and Senate.
