HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Cantare Community Youth Choir is performing in the Capitol rotunda on May 5, 2006; and WHEREAS, Established in July 2001, the Cantare Community Youth Choir provides boys and girls of Starr County with opportunities for artistic and personal growth; through choral and theatre performance, the youngsters bolster their self-esteem and gain a sense of pride and accomplishment while learning valuable lessons of self-discipline and accountability; and WHEREAS, Among their many notable achievements, the students skillfully performed a production of "Once on this Island Junior" in April 2006, much to the delight of audiences at the Francisco G. Zarate Center for the Performing Arts in Rio Grande City; and WHEREAS, Ably led by director Melissa Reyna, members of the Cantare Community Youth Choir are: Gabriella Noelle Reyna, Celine Olivarez, Christina Guerra, Estefania Bazan, Eliza Garcia, Ashley Lopez, Jonathan Cruz, Victoria Ivana Reyna, Justin Ortega, Brandon Ortega, Blanca Garza, Ariana Karen Reyna, Anthony Ortega, Victoria Lee Pena, Aaron Trevino, Jennifer Villarreal, Clarissa Villarreal, Cyana Arredondo, and Amanda Lopez; and WHEREAS, The unique acoustics of the Capitol rotunda will undoubtedly provide a wonderful setting for the melodies and harmonies of the Cantare Community Youth Choir and make for yet another memorable performance by these talented young Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas, 3rd Called Session, hereby welcome director Melissa Reyna and the young men and women of the Cantare Community Youth Choir to the State Capitol and commend them for sharing the gift of music with their fellow Texans; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Reyna and the members of the choir as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
