H.C.R. No. 38
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, David Barton has long distinguished himself as vice
chair of the Republican Party of Texas, and he may indeed reflect
with justifiable pride on his myriad achievements in that role; and
WHEREAS, Named to the post in 1996 by the State Republican
Executive Committee, Mr. Barton was elected vice chair by the full
Republican State Convention body in 1998 and has served four full
terms in this coveted and challenging role; and
WHEREAS, Active in all phases of the party's endeavors, this
esteemed Texan has worked diligently to recruit candidates on the
local, state, and national levels, and his efforts have contributed
to Republican electoral success in both statewide and congressional
contests; during his tenure, Republicans gained all elected
statewide offices and today Texas has the largest Republican
delegation in Congress; and
WHEREAS, Through countless speaking engagements at
fund-raisers, club meetings, and auxiliary meetings, Mr. Barton has
helped mobilize grassroots Republicans and has seen his party make
impressive strides, regaining the majority in the Texas House of
Representatives for the first time in 100 years in 2003; and
WHEREAS, In addition to training thousands of party
activists, Mr. Barton has helped conduct training for the
Republican freshmen entering the house and senate; he has also been
active in the mobilization of religious leaders throughout the
state; and
WHEREAS, David Barton has greatly benefited the Republican
Party of Texas during his tenure as vice chair, and he truly merits
special recognition for his accomplishments as a member of the GOP;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas,
3rd Called Session, hereby honor David Barton on his outstanding
tenure as vice chair of the Republican Party of Texas and extend to
him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Barton as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives and Senate.
