R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Leonard Carmack is retiring as chief of the Euless Police Department on August 31, 2006, concluding an impressive 31-year career in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Before joining the Euless Police Department six years ago, Chief Carmack was a member of the Irving Police Department; the U.S. Air Force veteran signed on with the Irving department in 1975 and rose through the ranks before retiring as assistant chief of police after 25 years of service; and WHEREAS, During his outstanding tenure in Euless, Chief Carmack has endeavored to promote a strong sense of community among the department's officers, a feeling he sought to re-create from his early days with the Irving police force; and WHEREAS, Chief Carmack has ably helped to safeguard the lives and property of his fellow citizens for more than three decades, and his well-deserved retirement will offer him the opportunity to travel with his beloved wife, Joyce, and to look back with pride on all he has achieved over the course of his notable career; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Chief Leonard Carmack on his retirement from the Euless Police Department and commend him for his longtime service as a law enforcement officer in Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Chief Carmack as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
