H.R. No. 66 


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Recognized for a 47-year career in hospital administration and generous contributions to the community, Warren L. Rutherford of Dallas is receiving a Good Samaritan Award from Dallas Baptist University-Oak Cliff Partnership at the organization's 18th annual dinner on May 2, 2006; and WHEREAS, After distinguished service in numerous hospitals, including more than 20 years at M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, Mr. Rutherford became senior vice president and executive director of Methodist Medical Center in Oak Cliff in 1985; he subsequently served in administrative posts with the Methodist Health System, first as senior vice president for corporate services and later as senior vice president for development and public affairs; since his retirement in 2001, he has served as a member of the board of trustees of the Methodist Health System Foundation; and WHEREAS, Committed to supporting and improving the community he calls home, this esteemed gentleman is a member of the board of directors of the Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas, the Trinity Commons Foundation, and the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Rotary Club of Oak Cliff, the Southern Gateway Community Work Group, and the Project Pegasus Community Work Group; and WHEREAS, Through the years Mr. Rutherford has enjoyed the devoted support of his wife, Barbara; in addition, he is an active member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, where he participates in the choir and serves on the investment committee; and WHEREAS, In his tireless efforts to advance quality hospital care and community development, Warren Rutherford has rendered exceptional service to the citizens of North Texas, and it is with heartfelt gratitude that we join his colleagues, friends, and admirers in honoring him for his many contributions to the greater good; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Warren L. Rutherford on receiving a 2006 Good Samaritan Award from Dallas Baptist University-Oak Cliff Partnership and extend to him sincere appreciation for a lifetime of service to others; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Rutherford as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
