R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Roger and Marie Johnston of Corsicana have marked a
momentous occasion in their lives together with the celebration of
their 69th wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnston and the former Lillie Marie Beauchamp
first met on Beaton Street; four months later, he asked her on a
date, and they married a year and a half later on March 23, 1937, at
Roger Stewart's home in Fairfield; their enduring union has been
blessed with two children, Peggy Sue Johnson and Pamela June Burns,
and they have shared in the joy of welcoming into their cherished
family six grandchildren, Sherri Michelle Weaks, Brian Allan
Johnson, Paulette Renee Cunningham, Kimberly Jeanice Allen,
Charles "Chuck" Burns, Jr., and Kristi Lynette Garcia, and 14
great-grandchildren, Heath Carl Weaks, Courtney Blair Bishop,
Jonathan David Weaks, Nathan Michael Weaks, Kate Samantha
Cunningham, Emma Faith Cunningham, Ashley Nicole Allen, Brittany
Elise Allen, Melanie Brooke Fields, Bethany Ann Burns, Mark Adam
Burns, Matthew Mason Burns, Justin David Garcia, and Breanna Molly
Garcia; and
WHEREAS, Natives of Corsicana, Mr. and Mrs. Johnston are
valued members of the community and congregants at First Baptist
Church; he retired from Mastervend and she retired from Adams Hat
Factory; and
WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared 69 years of
marriage, filling each other's lives with many happy times and
special family memories, and it is a pleasure to honor them; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Roger and
Marie Johnston on their 69th wedding anniversary and extend to them
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Johnston as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
