R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sergeant Mario Almaraz, Jr., of Alice has returned to the United States after completing his second tour of duty in Iraq; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Almaraz was posted to Iraq in January 2005 and served there until January 2006; during his most recent tour, he held the post of team leader in Alpha Company, 315th Infantry Regiment, and trained others in such operations as patrolling, clearing rooms, and searching individuals; on several occasions, he and his men assisted the Iraqi police in conducting raids and searches; and WHEREAS, A holder of the Army Commendation Medal, Sergeant Almaraz earlier served in Kuwait and in Fallujah, Iraq, from October 2002 to August 2003, and he is scheduled to begin his third tour in Iraq in September 2006; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan graduated from Alice High School in 1999; he was encouraged to enter the military by the experience of his brother, Hugo, who had previously joined the armed forces, and he now plans on making the army his career; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Almaraz is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mario Almaraz, Sr., and the proud father of two children, Marie Almaraz and Mario Almaraz III; and WHEREAS, From the day he first donned the uniform of his country, Sergeant Almaraz has performed his missions with exemplary dedication and professionalism, and his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and this nation reflect the highest ideals of the United States armed forces; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Sergeant Mario Almaraz, Jr., for his steadfast service in Iraq and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Almaraz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
