R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The United Veterans Burial Association of Alice has
distinguished itself as a vital asset to the community by providing
military honors at the funerals of the nation's veterans; and
WHEREAS, Having begun operation in 1995, the association has
provided its services at more than 500 funerals, thereby helping to
ensure that the men and women who so valiantly served their country
are laid to rest with the dignity that they deserve; and
WHEREAS, This group of volunteers charges no fees to the
families it serves, yet spares no effort in providing a solemn and
moving tribute that often includes a 21-gun salute, the playing of
the "Taps" bugle call, and the presentation of an American flag to
the family of the deceased; and
WHEREAS, Commander Servando Lopez and the other members of
the United Veterans Burial Association, all of whom have served in
uniform, have proven themselves patriotic and caring Americans who
have done their utmost to honor the sacrifices made by the members
of the United States Armed Forces; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the United
Veterans Burial Association of Alice and extend sincere
appreciation to its members for their community service; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
organization as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives.
