H.R. No. 110
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, John and Caroline Holmes of Midland observed the
special milestone of their 50th wedding anniversary on September 7,
2005; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Holmes and the former Caroline Mayberry Halsell
were united in matrimony in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1955; they have
enjoyed a union that has been blessed with three children, Carrie,
John, and Barbara, as well as two cherished grandsons, Daniel and
Matthew; and
WHEREAS, Over the past five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes have
led busy and productive lives; a dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Holmes
also worked for a local florist for 30 years, and Mr. Holmes had a
long and successful career as a geological engineer in the oil and
gas industry; today, they enjoy a rewarding and service-filled
retirement, volunteering with such organizations as Habitat for
Humanity and The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity; and
WHEREAS, The enduring union of John and Caroline Holmes has
been a genuine source of inspiration to all those who have shared in
the richness of their lives, and the strength of their commitment
ensures that many more joyous times await them; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate John and
Caroline Holmes on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to
them best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Holmes as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
