R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Imagene and O. Doyle Butler of Midland celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary on January 25, 2006, marking a
milestone in their long and happy union; and
WHEREAS, United in matrimony in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in
1956, the Butlers have since enjoyed a loving marriage that has been
blessed with a son, Kevin Butler; they resided in Sumatra,
Indonesia, and several communities throughout West Texas and
eastern New Mexico before settling in Midland in 1965; and
WHEREAS, Throughout their five decades together, the Butlers
have enjoyed busy lives; Mr. Butler worked for Texaco and Adobe Oil
as an engineer before cofounding the consulting firm of Nichols,
Butler & Associates and later forming his own company, Blackrock
Oil Co.; he currently works as an independent petroleum engineer
and is a proud member of the 45th Infantry Division Association,
Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Korean War
Veterans Association, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the
Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the National Rifle
Association; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Butler distinguished herself as an elementary
school teacher for 32 years, 26 of those with the Midland
Independent School District; she is a valued member of the Texas
Congress of Parents and Teachers, the Texas Retired Teachers
Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, and both
she and her husband enjoy membership with the Oklahoma State
University Alumni Association, the Chap Athletic Club at Midland
College, and First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, For 50 years, O. Doyle and Imagene Butler have
shared life's trials and triumphs hand in hand, and their lasting
union offers eloquent testimony to the meaning of love and
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Imagene and O.
Doyle Butler on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness together; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Butlers as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
