R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Midland residents Jerry and Barbara Smith 
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on December 22, 2005, 
marking a memorable milestone in their long and happy life 
together; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Smith and the former Barbara Annette Warren were 
united in matrimony in 1955 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, and their 
marriage has continued to grow in love and devotion with each 
passing year; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Smith has been a dedicated homemaker throughout 
the couple's marriage, while Mr. Smith worked for Texaco for two 
decades and later owned Rio Grande Distributors, Inc.; the parents 
of two children, Sanford and Elizabeth, and the doting grandparents 
of two grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Smith are longtime residents of 
Midland, where they are valued members of First Baptist Church;  and
	WHEREAS, The enduring union of Jerry and Barbara Smith 
remains a source of inspiration to all those with whom they have 
shared the richness of their lives, and they may indeed reflect with 
pride on their eventful journey over the past half-century as 
husband and wife; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jerry and 
Barbara Smith on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the Smiths as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
