R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Harold and Jane Hicks commemorated their 50th
wedding anniversary in September 2005, marking a significant
milestone in their long and happy marriage; and
WHEREAS, United in matrimony on September 30, 1955, in Big
Spring, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks are the parents of four children, Cathy
Scott, Ben Hicks, Helen Ross, and the late Mike Hicks, and they have
further welcomed three treasured grandchildren into their family;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks lived in Big Spring and Kermit
before moving to Midland in 2000; now leading an active retirement,
Mr. Hicks worked for Sid Richardson Carbon & Gasoline Co. until
1999, while Mrs. Hicks operated her own business, Jane's Flowers,
in Big Spring until 1982; today, they are active members of the
community of faith at First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have built a
strong bond of love and filled each other's lives with many happy
times and cherished family memories, and they may indeed reflect
with joy on the good fortune that brought them together; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Harold and
Jane Hicks on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hicks as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
