H.R. No. 133
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, After 28 years of outstanding service as an
educator, LaNelle Farris retired from her position with the Lamesa
Independent School District in December 2005; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Farris taught in Amherst, Littlefield, and
Dimmitt before joining LISD in the early 1980s; during her 22-year
tenure with the district, she served as a third grade teacher and
later as a third grade reading specialist at North Elementary
School; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Delphians,
and the First United Methodist Church of Lamesa, Mrs. Farris is
supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Lamesa Mayor John
Farris, and their children, Chad and Julie; and
WHEREAS, Retirement will undoubtedly afford her the
opportunity to spend more time with her loved ones, including her
treasured twin grandchildren, as well as to indulge in such other
favorite activities as reading, cooking, and traveling; and
WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, LaNelle Farris served with
integrity and dedication in the field of education, earning the
lasting respect of her colleagues and students alike, and it is a
pleasure to recognize her for her exemplary career as she embarks on
this exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate LaNelle
Farris on her retirement from the Lamesa Independent School
District and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Farris as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
