R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ralph and Carol Gillette of Midland marked a significant milestone in their life together on February 4, 2006, when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary; and WHEREAS, United in matrimony on February 4, 1956, in Douglas, Arizona, Mr. and Mrs. Gillette have shared an enduring union that has been blessed with four sons, Terry, Brian, Kevin, and Tom Gillette; moreover, they have enjoyed welcoming 10 grandchildren into their family; and WHEREAS, Before settling in Midland, Mr. and Mrs. Gillette lived in New York City, San Francisco, Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Denver; Mrs. Gillette has been a career homemaker while Mr. Gillette worked for Union Carbide in New York and retired in 2004 from The Nicholas Consulting Group in Midland, though he remains involved with the annual CO2 Conference and with the Applied Petroleum Technology Academy; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Gillette are valued members of the community and have been active in a number of local organizations; he is a Commemorative Air Force Colonel and belongs to the Hi Sky RC club, and she is a member of the Red Hats Ladies and the Green Tree Ladies Association; and WHEREAS, For half a century, this devoted couple have built a strong bond of love and have filled each other's lives with many happy times and cherished family memories, and many more joyful times surely await them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Ralph and Carol Gillette on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Gillette as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
