R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The girls' swimming and diving team of Highland Park
High School in Dallas captured the University Interscholastic
League Class 4A State Championship for 2005-2006; and
WHEREAS, This achievement marks the sixth straight title for
the team, which equals the state record for the most consecutive
swimming and diving championships in the history of Texas high
school sports; and
WHEREAS, The team's victory was aided by state titles in
several events, including the 400-yard freestyle relay, in which
Natalie Sacco, Alexandra Jennings, Alex Weber, and Bolton Harris
powered their way to victory, and the 200-yard medley relay, in
which Jennings, Sacco, and Harris were joined by Meredith Higgins
in winning the finals; moreover, Natalie Sacco turned in
title-winning performances in two other events, the 200-yard
individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly; and
WHEREAS, A team championship can only be won by a true group
effort, and Highland Park also received an essential contribution
from the other members of its talented team: Tori Beckman, Lindsay
Mackintosh, Delaney Rolfe, Amy Shyr, Adele Wilson, and manager
Becca House; and
WHEREAS, This impressive collection of raw swimming and
diving talent was molded by the inspired leadership of Jeff Olsen,
who was named Class 4A and Under Coach of the Year for girls'
swimming by the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches
Association; and
WHEREAS, In winning the state title, these aquatic athletes
displayed both tremendous skill and admirable dedication, and their
achievement will stand as yet another proud moment in the legacy of
Highland Park sports excellence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the girls'
swimming and diving team of Highland Park High School for winning
the UIL Class 4A State Championship for 2005-2006 and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
