H.R. No. 186
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fort Worth's Dunbar High School girls' basketball
team reached the semifinals of the 2005-2006 UIL Class 4A state
championships in Austin, and the team's achievements are indeed
worthy of recognition; and
WHEREAS, Led by head coach Andrea Robinson, the Wildcats
claimed the District 8-4A championship with a perfect 14-0 record;
the team also captured the Region 1 championship and finished the
season with the best overall record in the state, 37-2; and
WHEREAS, Coach Robinson received strong support from
assistant coaches Meka Gailliard and Nicole Collins, both of whom
were instrumental in keeping the team focused and motivated
throughout the long season; statistician Cornelius Smith also
played a key role in the team's accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Team members include Brooklyn Pope, Lashandra Hill,
Roni Withers, Kristien Gray, Jessica Copeland, Victoria Davis,
Maureen Slider, Tiesha Martin, Jerin Smith, Ashley McCuin, Latisha
Clark, and Shaniquia Bibbs; and
WHEREAS, The trials and triumphs of the Wildcats' impressive
season will surely benefit these talented young athletes in the
pursuit of future goals, and it is a pleasure to commend them for
their exemplary efforts at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Coach Andrea
Robinson, her players, and the many individuals who contributed to
the team's success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
