H.R. No. 209
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Rushan Gao won three gold medals in table tennis at
the 19th Huntsman World Senior Games held in October 2005 in St.
George, Utah, bringing notable acclaim to his home state of Texas
and the city of Houston; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Gao demonstrated his mastery of the sport in his
age group by taking the top spot in men's singles and by being part
of the winning duo in men's doubles and mixed doubles; moreover,
these victories are merely the latest table tennis glory garnered
by Mr. Gao, who first won gold in the 1999 Senior Olympics in
Houston and has since medaled in a number of other prestigious
competitions; and
WHEREAS, A versatile sportsman who continually challenges
himself, Mr. Gao took home a gold medal in contract bridge at the
2002 World Senior Games and has also had success in walking
competitions; and
WHEREAS, Rushan Gao, in his ninth decade of a very active and
interesting life, serves as an inspiring example of all that can be
accomplished by those who continually test their abilities and look
forward to new opportunities and challenges; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Rushan Gao on
winning three gold medals at the 19th World Senior Games and extend
to him warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Gao as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
