R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The year 2006 marks the retirement of Patricia L. 
Gobble as president and CEO of United Way of Denton County, Inc., 
concluding an exemplary career of service to her fellow Texans; and
	WHEREAS, Under Mrs. Gobble's astute leadership over the past 
decade and a half, the Denton County United Way doubled the amount 
of funds raised and enhanced its level of service and staffing; this 
dynamic executive initiated the first strategic planning for the 
agency, helped to launch an endowment fund to support its mission, 
started the agency director's roundtable and management assistance 
programs, and worked closely with other community organizations to 
advance the welfare of area citizens; and
	WHEREAS, A Texas Tech University alumna, Mrs. Gobble is also 
a tireless volunteer who has given generously of her time and 
talents to numerous charitable and community organizations; she is 
a founding member of A Vision for Denton-The 21st Century, and she 
has served as an advisor for such institutions as the University of 
North Texas, Denton Housing Coalition, Kiwanis Club of Denton, and 
Greater Denton Arts Council; and
	WHEREAS, Pat Gobble's professional and civic contributions 
have been recognized by the University of North Texas School of 
Community Service, Denton Business and Community News, Boy Scouts 
of America Longhorn Council, and Denton Chamber of Commerce; she 
was named a Community Health Advocate in 2004 and was selected for a 
Dallas Business Journal Leadership Profile that same year; and
	WHEREAS, Treasured by her close-knit family, Mrs. Gobble 
enjoys the love and affection of her three children, Barbara, 
Regina, and Kenneth, and five grandchildren, Grant, Mark, Abby, 
Paxton Claire, and Margaret Grace; and
	WHEREAS, Since moving to North Texas, Pat Gobble has 
contributed greatly to the betterment of her community, and she has 
earned the admiration, respect, and gratitude of residents 
throughout Denton County; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Patricia L. 
Gobble on her outstanding tenure as president and CEO of United Way 
of Denton County, Inc., and extend to her sincere best wishes for a 
very happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Gobble as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
