H.R. No. 222
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
recognize the Junior League of Plano on the 30th anniversary of the
organization's founding; and
WHEREAS, Established in May 1976 as the Plano Service League,
the Junior League of Plano is an educational, charitable
organization of women who are committed to promoting volunteerism,
the personal growth and development of women, and improving
communities through the effective action and leadership of trained
volunteers; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding organization has raised more than
$2.5 million, implemented over 200 community service projects, and
donated more than 300,000 hours of volunteer service to Collin
County; and
WHEREAS, With more than 900 members, the Junior League of
Plano is presently working on numerous projects throughout Collin
County, including ArtSmart, Even Start for Success, the Heritage
Farmstead Docents Program, and Plano Community Garden; and
WHEREAS, With its enduring commitment to the betterment of
the community, the Junior League of Plano is truly deserving of
legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Junior League
of Plano for its longstanding record of community service and
congratulate its members on the organization's 30th anniversary;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Junior League of Plano as an expression of high
regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
