R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of the Navy Junior ROTC at Flour Bluff
High School in Corpus Christi have distinguished themselves by
taking first place in the 2006 Navy Junior ROTC Nationals; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding achievement is made all the more
remarkable in that it marks the school's 10th consecutive
first-place finish in the national championship, which measures
personnel appearance, academic excellence, physical fitness, and
drill team development; and
WHEREAS, To secure their victory, the team's 40 members
placed first in armed drill exhibition, academics, unit inspection,
and overall drill, and took second place in unarmed basic
exhibition, fourth place in armed basic exhibition, and fifth place
in unarmed drill exhibition; and
WHEREAS, Their triumph has earned them the right to compete
against representatives of the other armed services in the 2006
National High School Drill Team Championships, to be held in May in
Daytona Beach, Florida; and
WHEREAS, The team's outstanding showing is further
underscored by Cadet Commander Tyler Grant's appointment to the
U.S. Naval Academy; and
WHEREAS, The accomplishment of these talented young Texans
surely heralds a bright future, and their outstanding record of
achievement is a source of great pride to their school and
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor the Flour Bluff High
School Navy Junior ROTC on winning the 2006 Navy Junior ROTC
Nationals and extend to its members sincere best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
