H.R. No. 228
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Five decades of marriage is truly a reason for
celebration, and on June 25, 2006, Pastor Elbert Lee Bowman and
Annette Ray Bowman of Fort Worth are observing their golden wedding
anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The couple first met in October 1951 at the
Henderson County Memorial Hospital in Athens, where Pastor Bowman
was hospitalized following an automobile accident; and
WHEREAS, The courtship progressed as Pastor Bowman drove each
weekend from his Fort Worth home to Athens, where his future wife
lived, and on June 25, 1956, the couple wed; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Bowman organized Greater Mount Tabor
Christian Center in 1965, and continues as its senior minister
today; the church offers a host of ministries designed to assist
members of the congregation and the wider community, and Pastor and
Mrs. Bowman have dedicated untold time and energy in behalf of their
church; and
WHEREAS, The proud parents of eight children, the Bowmans
also have found the time and energy to be active community leaders
as well as to travel extensively throughout the United States and
Canada; and
WHEREAS, Together, this dynamic couple have shared their
faith and kindness with their family, their church, and citizens of
the Fort Worth area, and their enduring marriage remains an
inspiration to all who are fortunate enough to share in their lives;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby warmly congratulate Pastor
Elbert Lee "E. L." Bowman and Annette Ray Bowman on the joyous
occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
