R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Dunbar High School boys' basketball team achieved an admirable level of success by reaching the 2005-2006 District 4A state championship finals; and WHEREAS, After soundly defeating San Antonio Brackenridge 95-66 in the state semifinal, the 33-5 Flying Wildcats fell to the formidable Dallas South Oak Cliff High School team 76-58 in the championship game; and WHEREAS, This successful season marks an exciting beginning to a promising career for the Wildcats' first-year head coach, Robert Hughes, Jr.; assisted by coaches Wendell Ivory, John Jacks, and Charles Hickman, Coach Hughes did an exceptional job schooling his young charges in the finer points of the game while instilling in them the values of hard work, dedication, and good sportsmanship; and WHEREAS, Contributing to this outstanding season were Cortney Hill, DeAndre Brown, Ira Spriggs, Mike Albert, Brandon Criss, James Davidson, Donald Broughton, Horace Hicks, Chris Roberts, Kevin Gilliam, Nathan Murray, Craig Turner, DeJuan Freeman, Marqus Fitchett, and Darolus Jones; and WHEREAS, The members of the Dunbar basketball squad have proven that they have the talent and commitment to compete at the highest level, and they are a source of tremendous pride to all their supporters in the Fort Worth community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Fort Worth Dunbar Flying Wildcats basketball team on their impressive state finals appearance and extend sincere best wishes to Coach Hughes, his players, and the many individuals who contributed to the team's success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
