R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of Williamson County lost an admired community leader, a tireless conservative grassroots activist, and an American patriot with the untimely death of S. Thomas McDaniel on February 28, 2006, at the age of 61; and WHEREAS, This third-generation Texan graduated from Duncanville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17; following his honorable discharge, he attended college and graduated cum laude from Dallas Baptist College; and WHEREAS, Mr. McDaniel was a licensed CPA and an accomplished businessman; a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of CPAs, he owned his own accounting firm in Georgetown; and WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Mr. McDaniel was serving his fellow citizens as a Williamson County commissioner, a position he had held since November 2004; in that capacity, this esteemed Texan worked tirelessly in behalf of the residents of Precinct 3 as well as the greater Williamson County community; and WHEREAS, He further benefited others by sharing his passion and expertise as a board member and treasurer of the Georgetown Library Foundation, as a board member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and as a pioneer of the Williamson County Historical Museum; a lifetime member of the VFW, he was also a valued and dedicated member of the Republican Party at the local, state, and national levels; and WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. McDaniel was devoted to his loving wife, Linda, and his cherished son, Ryan; and WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know Tom McDaniel will not soon forget the humor, intelligence, and commitment he brought to every aspect of his life, and although his presence is gone from us now, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched during his years on this earth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of S. Thomas McDaniel and extend profound sympathy to his family: to his wife, Linda McDaniel; to his son, Ryan Thomas McDaniel; to his sister, Paula Ann McDaniel and her husband, Richard Williams; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of S. Thomas McDaniel.
