H.R. No. 241


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may help temper the profound sadness felt by family, friends, and the greater Georgetown community at the passing of Sharon Dean Allen Hooser, who died on January 9, 2006, at the age of 55; and WHEREAS, The eldest of three girls born to Joe and Betty Faye Allen, Sharon grew up in Waco and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority; and WHEREAS, A special education teacher and yoga instructor, she delighted in helping others learn and served as an inspiration to countless friends and associates; committed to the idea of giving back to her community, Sharon was a valued member of the Georgetown Literary Guild, the Austin Symphony League, the Austin Settlement Club, the Junior Austin Women's Club, and the Austin Lawyers' Auxiliary, which she served as president; and WHEREAS, She found great joy and strength in her religious and spiritual beliefs, and she shared her commitment to a life guided by faith through her active involvement with the First United Methodist Church of Georgetown and her 20 years of membership in an Austin-based Bible study group; and WHEREAS, This beloved Texan also held a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature and for the arts, gardening, travel, and most of all, the companionship of her family and her wide circle of friends; she especially found great comfort in the love and support of her husband, Greg, and took special pride in their children, Allen, Aubrey, and Austin, and their grandson, Reagan; and WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth ended far too soon, Sharon daily lived a life of compassion, faith, and service to others, and the wonderful, spirit-filled legacy that she has left behind will long be treasured by all who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Sharon Dean Allen Hooser and extend sincere and deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband of 32 years, Greg Hooser; to her children, Allen Hooser and his wife, Leslie, Aubrey Hooser, and Austin Hooser; to her grandson, Reagan Hooser; to her sisters and their spouses, Lisa and Randy Breedlove and Judy and Mack Bennett; to her stepmother, Anne Allen; to her parents-in-law, Jim and Jo Hooser; to her sister-in-law, Pam Binder, and her husband, Joe; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sharon Dean Allen Hooser.
