R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Heart Gallery of San Antonio has been organized
and supported through the efforts of dedicated local citizens who
believe in the importance of adoption as a means of improving the
lives of abused and neglected children; and
WHEREAS, Using the talents of gifted local photographers, the
gallery replaces dry statistics with artistic portraits, both to
tell the human story underlying every adoption and to convey the
unique personality of each child in need of a home; and
WHEREAS, Each year, thousands of Texas children await
adoption by families who will provide the love, support, and
acceptance that are associated with a happy home, and raising
awareness of the need for adoptive homes is a key to increasing the
availability of such homes; and
WHEREAS, The State of Texas and the Texas House of
Representatives recognize the central role adoption plays in the
efforts of the state to safeguard and protect the lives of its
future, the children of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Local organizations and efforts to successfully
place children in permanent adoptive homes are the foundation of
the state's investment in adoption services; Texas depends heavily
upon the commitment of local communities to promote and facilitate
the gift and blessing that adoption represents to all parties
involved; and
WHEREAS, Through the establishment of the Heart Gallery, the
people of Bexar County and San Antonio have once again risen to the
challenge of child maltreatment with their financial resources,
time, open hearts, and creative minds, and their endeavors in this
regard merit special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the efforts of the
photographers, organizers, and supporters of the Heart Gallery of
San Antonio and extend to them sincere gratitude and warmest wishes
for their success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared so that all who read it may know that the protection of
Texas' most precious resource, our children, is a responsibility
that depends upon the continued efforts of dedicated and vigilant
members of communities across the great State of Texas.
