H.R. No. 256


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chris Landa of Conroe has been named a semifinalist in the 2006 National Arbor Day Foundation poster contest; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Texas Forestry Service, the annual competition promotes the importance of trees and Arbor Day among the youth of the Lone Star State; this year's guidelines required participants to illustrate the theme, "Trees are Terrific in All Shapes and Sizes"; and WHEREAS, Mr. Landa, a fifth-grade student at Mitchell Intermediate School in The Woodlands, is the son of proud parents Carlos and Rosie Landa; his design, which featured a field of trees, will be displayed in the State Capitol from April 23 to April 29, 2006; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has shown great creativity, initiative, and maturity in creating a poster that so aptly illustrates the contest's worthy goals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Chris Landa on being named a semifinalist in the 2006 National Arbor Day Foundation poster contest and extend to him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Landa as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
