R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary is truly an occasion to
be celebrated, and Charles and Jo Ann Minshew of Hawkins
commemorated this momentous milestone in their lives on March 30,
2006; and
       WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony at First Baptist Church of
Hawkins on March 30, 1946, Mr. Minshew and the former Jo Ann Vaughan
have nurtured a fulfilling union that has brought them many happy
times and cherished family memories; and
       WHEREAS, The Minshews are the parents of five children,
Charles William Minshew, Jr., Stephen Vaughan Minshew, Marlene
Minshew Kinney, Melissa Minshew, and the late Mark Allen Minshew,
and they have embraced the joys of grandparenting with the arrival
of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
       WHEREAS, Mrs. Minshew is today retired from a demanding
professional life as a business teacher at Hawkins High School;
together with her husband, she is an active congregant of the First
United Methodist Church of Hawkins; and
       WHEREAS, Charles Minshew served his country as a member of
the 9th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and saw 18 months' combat
duty in Europe during World War II; the owner and manager of
Minshew's General Merchandise for 32 years before retiring in 1978,
he is a member of Sharon Shrine and a 50-year member of both the
Hawkins Masonic Lodge and the Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department;
and
       WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared life's trials and
triumphs for the past six decades, and their enduring marriage
remains a source of joy and inspiration to all who treasure them;
now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Charles and Jo
Ann Minshew on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Minshew as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
