H.R. No. 272


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to a close with the passing of Ignacia Salinas Cantu of Weslaco on July 19, 2005, at the age of 88; and WHEREAS, A native of Donna, this beloved woman was born on April 12, 1917, and was the wife of the late Francisco Cantu; she retired from JC Penney in McAllen after 32 years of service and gave generously of her time and talents to Knapp Medical Center, where she volunteered for two decades; and WHEREAS, This devoted mother and grandmother will long be remembered for her strength of character, as well as for the kindness and generosity she bestowed on those she held dear; and WHEREAS, Ignacia Salinas Cantu was a blessing in the lives of all who were privileged to know her, and although she will be sorely missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Ignacia Salinas Cantu and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Eloy Cantu and his wife, Maggie, Javier Cantu and his wife, Carmen, Hector Cantu and his wife, Cindy, Graciela Robles and her husband, Rolando, and Sylvia Moser and her husband, Gale; to her 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; and to her other family and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ignacia Salinas Cantu.
