R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Bishop Brent M. Bryant, Sr., the founder and senior pastor of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, is being honored for his years of service to his congregation and to the San Antonio community; and WHEREAS, Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, he attended Austin Peavey State University in his hometown before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force for eight years; and WHEREAS, Since answering the call to the ministry in 1979, Bishop Bryant has uplifted the hearts and spirits of countless people; he led Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of San Antonio for five years and in 1990, founded Redeeming Grace Baptist Church with 35 charter members; and WHEREAS, Under his strong leadership, the church has added a youth ministry, a learning center offering after-school programs and a Boys & Girls Club, and a gymnasium available to groups for organized athletic events for children; moreover, Bishop Bryant is raising funds for a new facility that will expand the church's services available to children, provide outreach to seniors, and function as a disaster shelter for city, county, or statewide crises; and WHEREAS, In 2002, this esteemed clergyman was consecrated a bishop, and he is the second presiding bishop of the Father's House International Fellowship Church of Houston; in April 2006, he received an honorary doctorate in theology from the Guadalupe Baptist University and Seminary; and WHEREAS, Devoted to his family as well as his congregation, Bishop Bryant enjoys the love and support of his wife, Frances, and their nine children and 15 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Bishop Bryant has demonstrated the highest level of commitment, perseverance, and integrity, and he continues to set a stellar example of compassion and positive action in behalf of his congregation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Bishop Brent M. Bryant, Sr., on his exemplary commitment to his church and his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Bishop Bryant as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
