H.R. No. 279
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The National Coalition of 100 Black Women of San
Antonio celebrated its 10-year anniversary by hosting the first
annual Legends Luncheon on April 8, 2006; and
WHEREAS, This notable event not only commemorated a decade of
productive endeavors on the part of the San Antonio chapter but also
honored distinguished community leaders in eight categories: the
arts, business, community action and political leadership,
communication, economic development, education, health, and the
law; and
WHEREAS, Founded on April 13, 1996, the San Antonio chapter
advocates in behalf of African American women and the African
American community, creating programs to address their diverse
needs and fostering leadership development; the group is an
affiliate of the national organization, which was established in
1981 and which now embraces some 60 chapters and 7,000 members; and
WHEREAS, Through its proactive approach to issues of shared
concern and its promotion of African American culture, the National
Coalition of 100 Black Women of San Antonio has had a profound and
positive impact on the community, and it is indeed a pleasure to
commend the efforts of its members to empower and advocate for
African American women; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of
the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of San Antonio on their
organization's 10th anniversary and extend best wishes to the many
individuals affiliated with this esteemed organization; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women of San
Antonio as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives.
