R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly cause for celebration, and on October 14, 2005, Vernice Warner of San Antonio observed this momentous occasion in her long and accomplished life; and WHEREAS, Born on October 14, 1915, in Weimar, Mrs. Warner moved to San Antonio with her family and attended Los Angeles Heights Public School and Douglass High School; she later graduated from St. Philip's Junior College, earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Prairie View A&M University, and studied at Our Lady of the Lake University; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Warner enjoyed an outstanding tenure as an educator with the San Antonio Independent School District; she retired in 1984 after 31 years of service, having earned the lasting respect and admiration of students and colleagues alike; and WHEREAS, Throughout the years, this notable woman has given generously of her time and talents as a life member of the Bowden Business and Professional Women, the Adeline Cunningham Missionary Society, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in which she holds the distinction of being a golden soror in recognition of her 50 years of membership; moreover, she has been a loyal and dedicated congregant of Emmanuel African Methodist Church for more than six decades; and WHEREAS, Devoted to her family as well, she enjoyed a happy marriage to George Warner until his passing, and became the proud parent of two daughters, Patricia A. Warner and Roslyn Gail Sion; today, she also enjoys the love and affection of her grandson, Rudolph Claude Valentino Bullock III, and her great-grandson, Chanse Valentino Bullock; and WHEREAS, Vernice Warner remains an inspiration to all who are privileged to know her, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor her on 90 years of a life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Vernice Warner on the milestone of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Warner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
