No. 291R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Longtime San Antonio residents Clyde and Jean Parker celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on August 7, 2005, and their union remains a source of inspiration to all who know them; and WHEREAS, United in marriage in Tappahannock, Virginia, on August 7, 1970, Mr. Parker and the former Jean Carsone Vaughan have shared many happy times and cherished memories during their years together; and WHEREAS, Blessed with two children, Mandisa Oni Parker and Vergial Omari Parker, the Parkers welcomed their family's newest arrival in August 2002 with the birth of their granddaughter, Jahnya Carsone Parker; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Parker enjoyed a 33-year career as an educator that began in Tappahannock's Essex County schools and continued with the Harlandale Independent School District after the couple relocated to San Antonio in the early 1970s; the Virginia native retired from teaching in 2001; and WHEREAS, A dedicated employee of the City of San Antonio's Planning Department, Mr. Parker is a native of Waycross, Georgia; he completed his undergraduate studies at Hampton Institute and went on to earn a master's degree in urban studies from Trinity University; and WHEREAS, The enduring union of this noteworthy couple has been built on a foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect, and they are most deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Clyde and Jean Parker on their 35th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness in their lives together; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parker as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
