R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the senior community of San Antonio
participated in the Third Annual African American Citywide Senior's
Conference on September 9 and 10, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Founded by Dr. E. Thurman Walker and Doloris "Mama
Dee" Williams with Leslie Foster serving as cochair in 2003, the
event is held annually in September to coincide with Grandparents'
Day; and
WHEREAS, With a talent show and choral performance, the
conference provides seniors age 62 and older with information
useful to their daily lives and the opportunity to socialize and
pray with their contemporaries; and
WHEREAS, The senior population of the State of Texas
consistently serves as an inspiration to other generations, and the
residents of San Antonio deserve special recognition for their
efforts in organizing this special event; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the Third
Annual African American Citywide Senior's Conference and extend to
all those involved in bringing this noteworthy event to fruition
each year best wishes for continued success.
