R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For nearly four decades, Alice M. Allen of San Antonio has rendered exceptional service to the congregants of New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where her husband, the Reverend J. Carlton Allen, is celebrating his 39th pastoral anniversary in 2006; and WHEREAS, This native Texan has lent her time and talents to the church's women's, youth, and music ministries, the Monday night Bible study, the church school orientation class, and the minister's and deacons' wives group; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Allen's commitment to her religion also extends beyond the realm of her beloved congregation in San Antonio, and through the years, she has traveled across the globe sharing her message of faith; moreover, she has served as president of the Ministers and Widows Conference of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Workers, and as a teacher for the Ministers' Wives of San Antonio; and WHEREAS, The mother of three and grandmother of four, she earned a bachelor's degree in education at The University of Texas at San Antonio and taught for the Northeast Independent School District for 15 years; and WHEREAS, Alice Allen is an inspiration to all who are privileged to know her, and her efforts in behalf of her religious community have made a positive difference in the lives of countless individuals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Alice M. Allen for her years of service to New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
