R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Arma Lee Woods Cooper were
deeply saddened by the passing of this beloved woman on October 21,
2005, at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the Lone Star State, Mrs.
Cooper was born in Garrison and attended Wiley College after
graduating from high school; she was employed by Good Publishing
Company as an executive secretary for more than 15 years and later
ran a day care from her home until her retirement in the late 1980s;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cooper treasured her faith and was a valued
member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she shared her
time and talents to benefit the church by organizing musicals and
fund-raisers; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Mama Cooper," this devoted
wife and caring mother and grandmother will long be missed by those
who were fortunate enough to have known her and in whose hearts her
memory will forever be cherished; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Arma Lee Woods Cooper and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
her family: to her daughter, Sandra Cooper Sapenter; to her
grandchildren, Andrea Bell Washington and Darian Bell; to her
great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jasamin Washington and Keana Bell; to
her loved ones, Regina Sanders Hall, Aaron and Iaron Sanders,
Maricia Cooper Johns, Carol Cooper, and Donald Cooper; and to her
other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Arma Lee
Woods Cooper.
