R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, With the passing of Donna Belle Harrington on April
20, 2006, at the age of 105, the city of Plano has lost a valued
member of the community, and we join her many friends and admirers
in mourning their loss; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Plano, Mrs. Harrington was
born on August 1, 1900, into a family that was among the first to
settle Plano after the Civil War; and
WHEREAS, She went on to become the salutatorian of the Plano
High School Class of 1917, and at the time of her death was the
school's oldest graduate; and
WHEREAS, She was also the oldest member of the First
Christian Church of Plano, which she joined in 1914, and throughout
her life she drew spiritual strength from the community of worship
there; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harrington and her husband, the late Robert Lee
Harrington, were blessed with a loving family, and she took great
pleasure and pride in the many accomplishments of her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, We treasure those Texans whose long and fruitful
lives connect us with our rich shared history, and Mrs.
Harrington's passing has deprived us not only of a much-loved
mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor, but also of an
irreplaceable link to the world of our forebears; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Donna Belle Harrington of Plano and extend sincere sympathy to the
members of her family: to her sons, Don Harrington and Rob
Harrington and his wife, Ann; to her grandchildren, Robin
Harrington Brady, Ginger Harrington Ellis, William Cordell
Harrington, and Suzan Harrington Zakrzewski; to her
great-grandchildren, Shara, Victoria, and Heather Harrington;
Matthew and Caroline Brady; Meredith Ellis; and J. D. and Julia Ann
Zakrzewski; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Donna
Harrington.
