H.R. No. 317



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Plano Police Department detectives Larry Bartek, 
Chris Pyryt, Jeff Rich, and Steve Young have been invited to compete 
at the 8th International Police Sniper Championship to be held in 
the Czech Republic May 16 through May 19, 2006; and
	WHEREAS, Selected to compete after earning an impressive 
score at a U.S. World event, the Plano team will contend with groups 
from around the globe in a wide variety of shooting and tactical 
exercises to determine the world's best; and
	WHEREAS, Having the distinction of being the only team 
representing Texas and the United States at this year's 
competition, the members of the Plano company are all detectives 
with the Criminal Investigative Services Division--Family Violence 
Division of the Plano Police Department; Mr. Bartek, who will be a 
sniper at the competition, is a 16-year veteran of the department 
and a 14-year member of the Plano SWAT team; competing as a spotter 
is Mr. Pyryt, who brings to this unique challenge 19 years of 
experience with the department and 13 years as a hostage 
negotiator; Mr. Rich is a spotter with 14 years of service with the 
Plano department, four years with the Carrollton Police Department, 
and eight years with the ESU Intel Team; and sniper Steve Young has 
worked with the Plano department for 16 years and has been part of 
the Plano SWAT team for 14 years; and
	WHEREAS, These exceptionally skilled peace officers have 
demonstrated impressive dedication and bravery over the course of 
their notable careers, and they are most deserving of special 
recognition for their achievements; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Larry Bartek, 
Chris Pyryt, Jeff Rich, and Steve Young on being invited to compete 
in the 8th International Police Sniper Championship and extend to 
them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 
for the detectives as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
