H.R. No. 326
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Elvis Rubio has rendered
valiant service in Iraq as a member of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, A 1997 graduate of Alice High School, Staff Sergeant
Rubio joined the military soon after earning his diploma; he served
his first tour of duty in Iraq from February 2003 to March 2004, and
he has returned for a second tour of duty in 2006; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated army medic was most recently
stationed in Fort Hood, where he received further training in
preparation for his latest assignment; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Rubio is blessed with a loving
family; he and his wife, Brandi, are the parents of a cherished
daughter, Angelina Veronica, and Mr. Rubio is the son of proud
parents Fela and Joe Rubio; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to Staff
Sergeant Rubio and to all the country's military personnel, for
they are called on in wartime to bear unimaginable burdens, and they
render service and sacrifice that are truly beyond measure; and
WHEREAS, Through his steadfast devotion to duty, honor, and
this nation, Staff Sergeant Rubio embodies the highest ideals of
the U.S. armed forces, and he carries with him the heartfelt best
wishes of his fellow Texans for a safe and speedy return; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor U.S. Army Staff
Sergeant Elvis Rubio and commend him for his courageous service in
Iraq; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Staff Sergeant Rubio as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
