R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to an end with the
passing of Bessie W. Pye of Houston on February 5, 2006, at the age
of 89; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong Houstonian, Mrs. Pye attended San Jacinto
High School and The University of Texas before marrying Walter Pye,
and the two enjoyed a loving union that continued to grow in
devotion with each passing year as they experienced life's
opportunities and challenges side by side; and
WHEREAS, Partners in business as well as in life, Mr. and Mrs.
Pye established the Walter Pye's chain of clothing stores, and
their kindness, respect, and commitment to excellence earned them
countless loyal customers; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Mrs. Pye cherished her family
and friends, and she will long be remembered with affection and
admiration by all those fortunate enough to have known her; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Bessie W. Pye and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
family: to her children, Walter and Susan Pye and Sue Sue and Don
Aron; to her grandchildren, Walter Pye III, Cristina Pye, Jennifer
Cox, Adam Cox, Cristopher Pye, Emily Wardell, Leslie Lerner, Doug
Lerner, and Joanie, Doug, and David Aron; to her
great-grandchildren, Sofia, Gabriella, Caterina, and Tatum; to her
brother and sister-in-law, Alex and Francis Wolff; to her cousin,
Amy Bassist; to her loved ones, Rochelle Pye, Bernard Lerner, and
Maxine and Bubba Silberstein; and to her other relatives and
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bessie W.
Pye.
