R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments may comfort the family and friends of Manuela Cortez Fresquez, who passed away on March 23, 2006; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Socorro, Mrs. Fresquez was born on February 22, 1913; she shared nearly 75 years with her beloved husband, Juan Angel Fresquez, and the couple were blessed with 11 children, 36 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Known for her loving, nurturing spirit, Mrs. Fresquez earned the title "Mother of the Year" on more than one occasion; she was a valued member of La Purisima Catholic Church and an accomplished seamstress, and she took great pride in making wedding dresses for her daughters; and WHEREAS, Manuela Fresquez was a treasure in the lives of those fortunate to have known her, and though her presence is gone from us, the memory of her unwavering commitment to her family and friends will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Manuela Cortez Fresquez and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Juan Angel Fresquez; to her children, Estanislao Fresquez and his wife, Dominga, Manuela Ines Fresquez Enciso, Juan Martin Fresquez and his wife, Alicia, Sister Catalina Fresquez CCVI, Maria Fresquez, Luis Fresquez and his wife, Cecilia, Vicente Fresquez and his wife, Beth, Margarita Fresquez Zaske and her husband, Bob, Monica Mucchetti, Marta Fresquez, and Ana Barry and her husband, Michael; to her 36 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Manuela Cortez Fresquez.
