R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Palestine residents Orrin and Ruby Shaid are 
celebrating the joyous occasion of their 69th wedding anniversary 
on May 6, 2006; and
	WHEREAS, Although nearly seven decades have passed since they 
exchanged vows in Fairfield on May 6, 1937, the loving pair recall 
with delight the early days of their courtship; they still live in 
their first home, though their Alabama Street residence has been 
remodeled and expanded to accommodate their growing family, which 
includes their beloved children, Annette and Orrin, Jr.; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Shaid have both retired from varied and 
successful careers; Mr. Shaid got his start at Palestine's 
Fotopulos Shoe Shop before working for Missouri-Pacific Railroad 
for 20 years and Tyler Kelly-Springfield Tire for 14 years; Mrs. 
Shaid spent the first years of their marriage raising their 
children, and she later worked for Missouri-Pacific and then, for 
more than two decades, for Cravens, Dargan Insurance; and
	WHEREAS, For 69 remarkable years, Orrin and Ruby Shaid have 
found in each other a devoted life partner, and their enduring union 
is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Orrin and Ruby 
Shaid on their 69th wedding anniversary and extend to them 
heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness together; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shaid as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
