R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, With his retirement from the U.S. Border Patrol on April 27, 2006, J. D. Solis is concluding an outstanding career in public service that has spanned nearly three decades; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan joined the border patrol in 1978 as an agent at the Fabens Station in El Paso, where his duties ranged from manning checkpoints and inspecting farms and ranches to participating in numerous special operations; in 1984, he transferred to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, working as an immigration inspector at the port of entry in Progreso for four years, but soon returned to the border patrol as a senior patrol agent at the Rio Grande City Station; and WHEREAS, During his exemplary tenure, Mr. Solis was promoted first to supervisory border patrol agent and then to field operations supervisor of the Mercedes Station, and his enthusiastic commitment to these demanding roles has undoubtedly contributed to the success of the station; and WHEREAS, Mr. Solis enjoys the love and support of his wife of 30 years, Yolanda V. Solis, and his son, Jose D. Solis II, and looks forward to spending more time with them in retirement; and WHEREAS, Although he will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends at the U.S. Border Patrol, J. D. Solis may reflect with pride on his fine record and his many remarkable experiences on the job; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate J. D. Solis on the occasion of his retirement as field operations supervisor of the U.S. Border Patrol Mercedes Station and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Solis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
