R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Bobby Jack Probst of Alpine has left a
void in the lives of his family members and many friends, yet his
legacy of success and achievement will be remembered for years to
come; and
WHEREAS, Born in San Angelo on September 23, 1939, this
lifelong Texan graduated from Kermit High School in 1958; he played
quarterback for the Yellowjacket football team and was proud of the
fact that he maintained his friendships with many of his high school
teammates; and
WHEREAS, After pursuing his football career at The University
of Texas, San Angelo Junior College, Denver University, Trinity
University, and Sul Ross State University, he earned a bachelor's
degree from the latter and went on to gain a master's degree in
counseling and administration; and
WHEREAS, Coach Probst was a dedicated educator who excelled
as a teacher, coach, counselor, and administrator during his
impressive career; he established a number of golf programs at
schools throughout the state and played a vital role in the
construction of Terlingua's first high school while serving as
superintendent of schools; notably, his Terlingua High School golf
teams were once featured in Golf and Leisure Magazine; and
WHEREAS, An avid golfer himself, Coach Probst played with his
friends at courses across the Lone Star State; his favorite
partners, however, were his daughter, Jennifer, and his
granddaughter, K. C.; at the time of his passing, Coach Probst was
serving on the board of directors at Alpine Country Club; and
WHEREAS, Bobby Jack Probst inspired countless individuals
during his full and happy life, and although he no longer walks
among us, his memory will continue to inspire those who were
privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Bobby Jack Probst and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his
family: to his wife, Judy Singleton Probst; to his daughter,
Jennifer Probst Webster, and her husband, Joseph; to his
granddaughter, Kathryne Cristyne "K. C." Avery; to his sister,
Carol Ann Compton; to his step-grandsons, Brian and Brandon
Webster; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bobby Jack
Probst.
