H.R. No. 425


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Deane Stoltz has been posthumously awarded the 2006 Jefferson Award for Public Service, and his selection for this tribute provides a fitting opportunity to acknowledge his dedication to his fellow Texans; and WHEREAS, A supporter of bettering the quality of life for the people of Midland, Mr. Stoltz selflessly gave of his time and energy in support of an array of worthy endeavors; a member of the United Way of Midland board for more than three decades, he helped the organization raise more than $69 million for its important work; and WHEREAS, His lasting contributions also include his service with the Permian Basin Area Foundation and on the Midland Presbyterian Homes board of trustees, a role in which he helped to address the housing needs of the elderly by overseeing the establishment of two new facilities, Trinity Towers and Manor Park; and WHEREAS, A resident of Midland since 1955, Mr. Stoltz further served his fellow citizens as a member of the Midland Independent School District board of trustees, including a term as president; and WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, Deane Stoltz demonstrated unfailing wisdom, graciousness, and commitment to that which he knew to be right; he is a truly deserving recipient of this award, and his legacy of achievement will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Deane Stoltz on his posthumous receipt of a 2006 Jefferson Award for Public Service; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Deane Stoltz.
