R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Daisy Gonzalez was named a finalist in the General 
Land Office 2006 Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art 
Contest; and
	WHEREAS, This talented 12-year-old is currently a 
sixth-grade student at Horizon Middle School in El Paso; her 
exceptional work, selected from more than 6,700 entries, earned 
Miss Gonzalez a host of prizes, including a ticket to the Texas 
State Aquarium in Corpus Christi and passes to Schlitterbahn 
Waterpark; and
	WHEREAS, An annual competition, the Treasures of the Texas 
Coast art contest encourages young artists to learn about the 
natural resources found along the Lone Star State's shoreline and 
helps spread the message that "Trashing Texas Beaches Isn't Cool"; 
and
	WHEREAS, With her compelling picture, Daisy Gonzalez has 
demonstrated outstanding ability and imagination, and her 
achievement is a source of great pride to her family and community; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Daisy 
Gonzalez on being named a finalist in the General Land Office 2006 
Treasures of the Texas Coast Children's Art Contest and extend to 
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Miss Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
