H.R. No. 434



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Isabel Rivas, sixth-grade teacher at Salvador H. 
Sanchez Middle School in Socorro, has been named Teacher of the Year 
by Communities In Schools of Texas; and
	WHEREAS, A national program administered in this state by the 
Texas Education Agency, Communities In Schools partners with local 
businesses, social agencies, volunteers, and other community 
resources to help students complete their education and succeed in 
life; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Rivas is one of only 11 people from across the 
state who were presented with a prestigious Best of Texas award on 
April 28, 2006, in honor of outstanding commitment and dedication 
to the CIS program, students, families, schools, and the community 
at large; and
	WHEREAS, Known for making extra efforts to support both her 
students and their parents, Isabel Rivas has made a positive 
difference in the lives of many El Paso-area families, and this 
impressive award rightly acknowledges her exemplary achievements; 
now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Isabel Rivas 
on being named Teacher of the Year by Communities In Schools of 
Texas and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Rivas as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
