H.R. No. 440


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The members of Company C, 2nd Battalion, 112th Armored Regiment of the Texas Army National Guard have served with distinction in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and WHEREAS, Part of the 56th Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division, Company C was activated with the rest of the brigade on August 15, 2004; after training at Fort Hood, Charlie Company shipped out in January 2005, when the 56th became the first Texas National Guard brigade since World War II to be deployed overseas; in Iraq, the company was stationed for 11 months at Camp Taqaddum, Fallujah, where it joined the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force; and WHEREAS, Summoned to this country's service, the citizen soldiers of Charlie Company left behind their families, their work, and their private pursuits to answer that call, and they performed their assignment in Iraq with expert skill and unwavering commitment; and WHEREAS, Residents of Parker County celebrated the long-awaited return of this outstanding unit on December 17, 2005, with a parade; the following day, at the Weatherford National Guard Armory, the members of Charlie Company were released from full-time active duty; and WHEREAS, Our country is fortunate to have sons and daughters whose love of country leads them to service in the National Guard, yet we are keenly aware of the burdens and sacrifices these men and women endure in time of war; through their courage and professionalism in carrying out a most challenging mission, the members of Company C have exemplified the highest standards of the United States armed forces, and their fellow citizens owe to all these soldiers an immeasurable debt of gratitude; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor the members of Company C, 2nd Battalion, 112th Armored Regiment of the Texas Army National Guard for their service in Operation Iraqi Freedom and extend to them heartfelt appreciation for their exceptional efforts in this country's behalf.
