R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Denison Mayor Bill Lindsay has immeasurably enhanced the quality of life for countless Denison residents through his many years of public service; and WHEREAS, Mayor Lindsay's efforts in behalf of his fellow citizens include seven years of distinguished service as mayor of Denison and membership with the city council and the planning and zoning commission; and WHEREAS, While in office, Mayor Lindsay has overseen the expansion of the economic development program and the renovation of police facilities, and he has also played an integral role in bringing vital industries to Denison and in the planning of a new development on Lake Texoma; and WHEREAS, His experience and insight have further benefited a number of other entities; Mayor Lindsay has been president of the Association of Mayors, Council Members, and Commissioners, and he currently serves as vice chair of the Cities Aggregation Power Plan, president of the Texoma Area Solid Waste Agency, trustee of TML Intergovernmental Employees Benefits Pool, and vice chair of Telecommunity; and WHEREAS, A retired U.S. Marine colonel, Mayor Lindsay served his country with distinction in the Vietnam War, earning a host of honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal, and three Purple Hearts; and WHEREAS, In his role as a public servant, Mayor Lindsay has set high standards of leadership and commitment, and he leaves behind a record of achievements that will continue to benefit area residents for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Honorable Bill Lindsay for his long-standing dedication to the citizens of Denison and extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mayor Lindsay as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
