R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mark Ellis has concluded his third and final term as a member of the Houston City Council, and it is most appropriate that he be honored for his exemplary service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and earned a bachelor of science degree in political science from the University of Houston; he is a devoted husband to the former Victoria Raia and a loving father to their daughter, Grace Catherine; and WHEREAS, A successful financial consultant, he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry in 2004 to serve on the Texas Public Finance Authority; and WHEREAS, His accolades include the 2001 Political Courage Award from the Harris County Republican Party and the 2000 Principles Action Award from the Houston Property Rights Association; in addition, the Houston Police Officers Union named him the 2002 City Council Member of the Year; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis entered public service determined to address property tax relief, improve city services, and promote a healthy business environment, and he may reflect with great pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Mark Ellis for his impressive, three-term tenure as a member of the Houston City Council and extend to him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ellis as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
