R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Karen Boyd is retiring from her position as administrative secretary with the Sul Ross State University Controller's Office on June 30, 2006, bringing to a close a notable employment with the school that has spanned 11 years; and WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Kansas, where she earned degrees in art history, East Asian studies, and advertising, Mrs. Boyd came to Alpine in 1994; she has deftly handled her many duties and has won the lasting admiration of her fellow coworkers with her professionalism and wry sense of humor; and WHEREAS, Before joining the staff at Sul Ross, Mrs. Boyd enjoyed a successful and varied career, which included tenures with the Van Cliburn Piano Competition and two insurance companies and as the owner and operator of a yarn store; moreover, she spent two years in the Peace Corps, teaching school on the island of Borneo; and WHEREAS, Karen Boyd may look back with great satisfaction on her time with Sul Ross State University and know that her colleagues will miss her sense of humor and sense of perspective that she brought to the daily operations of the office; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Karen Boyd on her retirement from the Sul Ross State University Controller's Office and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Boyd as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
